Dr. Fatma Inanici

Biography:

Dr. Fatma Inanici is a research assistant professor at the University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. She investigates neurorehabilitation treatments through electrical spinal cord stimulation for patients with conditions such as chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and spinal cord injury. Previously, Dr. Inanici served as a faculty member and physician-scientist at Hacettepe University in Turkey until 2013. Afterwards, Dr. Inanici pursued a PhD in rehabilitation sciences at the University of Washington. Following her PhD, she held postdoctoral research positions at Harvard University’s Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the University of Washington’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Inanici has spearheaded a treatment plan to resolve hand and arm motor loss in spinal cord injury patients, receiving the Best Paper award at the 2024 International Conference on Aging, Innovation & Rehabilitation for this work. Outside of her research, Dr. Inanici is an active member of the scientific community through active memberships in organizations including the Society for Neuroscience, American Spinal Injury Association, Consortium for Multiple Sclerosis Center, and American Heart Association.
